Coffee Dream Oslo
I have been meaning to ramble about my mecca here in Oslo. I have made an almost daily pilgrimage to Grünersgate in Grünerløkka where 2004 world barista champion (one year after Australia’s Paul Bassett) and two time runner up, Tim Wendelboe serves his exquisite coffee. While I am yet to see Tim behind the machine, I always find myself in good hands. Chris Kolbu, one of the part time baristas, placed 9th at this years WBC. That aside, it is the attitude that impresses me most. To celebrate the arrival of the Gatundu from Kenya and Aricha #7 from Ethiopia, only black coffees where served between the 7th and 14th of July. I witness at lest two people turned away during that period.
I have long been a fan of the Clover in principal, but had never tried a coffee from one. They are non existent in Australia it seems. Now that they will be appearing in Starbucks across the globe I doubt we will see reasonable coffee extracted through one in the foreseeable future. Naturally I was trilled to find Tim has not one but two, as they are a brilliant tool for coffee tasting. The length of a clover also make a great excuse to stand about and watch coffee being roasted.
