Can I Have Permission Please?
Muxtape has rightfully generated a great deal of hype since its recent launch. While i adore the concept and have listened to many a mixed tape, i am yet to sign up as i am unsure of my rights. Its terms state “Users may not upload multiple songs from the same album or artist, or songs they do not have permission to let Muxtape use.”. Perhaps i am immeasurably ignorant, but i wonder how i am able to determine weather i have permission to let Muxtape use a track. Is Muxtape governed by US law, how might that effect my locally (AUS) licensed music? It seems to me this glorious service, with its amazing simplicity, accessibility and cultural value, is treading a fine line.
